Bumper harvest of peaches in Maxikou Village

May Tue 2024
Recently, workers were busy picking fresh peaches at a family farm in Maxikou Village, Pushi Town, Luxi County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture.

The farm manager said that since 2012, the farm has developed the agricultural tourism, leisure and cultural industries by transferring 300 mu (20 hectares) of land. In 2020, nearly 2,000 peach trees including nectarines and juicy peaches were planted in the farm. Through green organic cultivation, the yield of fresh peaches this year can reach about 2,000 kilograms per mu (about 0.067 hectares).

It’s now the picking period of peaches, and red ripe peaches are hanging on the branches in the orchard, attracting tourists from the surrounding area to pick them, and experience agricultural tourism.

Blooming flowers in spring and tasty peaches in early summer attract a constant stream of tourists to the countryside.

With the continuous development of agricultural tourism, leisure and cultural industries, more than 30 surrounding farmers have started their own business, adding new-quality vitality to rural revitalization.
